Out with the old...

... in with the new!

We have been smashing (although Dad does not like that term) out all the old plaster in the house. We are getting the house ready to be drywalled. We tore out the front room, front and back hall, the steps and the upstairs hall. It has made quite the mess!

We started around 8:00 yesterday morning. We made quick progress in the front room and front hall/steps. Things went well and everyone worked hard. We called it a night at about 8:00.

Today, things were a little bit slower. We had so much lath to load in the car. Thankfully, Jim Vannoy allowed us to dump the old plaster and lath on his property. That saved us a lot of money in regard to the dump.

Everyone's fuses were short today and people were snapping at each other, but things went pretty well. We finished tearing out the upstairs hall and almost completed the back hall. I ordered Chinese around 6:30 and we called it a night.

We will finish any last tearing out tomorrow and then we have to clean everything. All the front room furniture has been in the dining room. That is challenging!

And, this kind of work is...

After everything is cleaned up we will begin putting up 2x4's to make drywalling easier. Plus, we need to put insulation on all the outer walls. We will be busy, busy for a while!

I will post some pictures of all our work over the next few days; the pictures need to be downloaded from various cameras! :-D
